Maryalice Brockway, beloved mother, sister, teacher, mentor, and friend. Maryalice Brockway died peacefully on September 8, 2022. She is survived by a daughter, Ardra Brockway of Pacific Grove, a sister, Dr. Elizabeth Hunt Neal of Salem Oregon, and two grandchildren, Rachel Spung of Carmel California and Aidan Swenson from Pacific Grove. Maryalice was born in Vicksburg Mississippi to German Baker Hunt and Mildred McClain Hunt. The family traveled extensively with the army corps of engineers. Eventually settling in Seattle, Washington where Maryalice attended Washington State and Western Washington University. Maryalice moved to Carmel in the late 1950s where she would begin a lifetime career in education. Maryalice worked for MPUSD from 1967 to 2007 specializing in multicultural education programs and English as a second language. After retiring in 2007 she continued to volunteer her time on a daily basis in understaffed classrooms. Maryalice was an avid reader and traveler. Especially traveling to the homelands of her beloved students. A memorial service/celebration of her life is planned for January.See more See Less
