Meg was born on April 2, 1941, in Sacramento, California, to her late parents, Connie and Bill Wright. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister Rita Brousse and brother-in-law Fred Brousse. Meg is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, John Mullany, and her children Wally Gallaway of Carmel, Rita Williams of San Francisco, and Russel Gallaway of Sacramento, along with their spouses. She will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren; Pierce, Russel, Grant, Jack, Parker, Katherine, Clyde, her 6 step children, 12 step grandchildren as well as her nephews; Steve and Greg Brousse and their spouses and children.
Meg attended Sacred Heart Primary School, Dominican High School, and the University of Colorado for higher education.
Meg's vibrant, passionate, and engaged personality touched the lives of the various communities in which she lived and served throughout her entire life. She was a devoted patriot and volunteered regularly to serve veterans wherever she lived. Meg's commitment to her country was unwavering.
Meg's career started in the family company of Wright and Kimbrough until her marriage to Alan Hill Gallaway in 1964. She was an active member of the Junior League of Sacramento and later joined the Sacramento Valley alumnae of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Meg's dedication led her to become the Board President of the Loyola Guild of Jesuit High School. She primarily worshipped at St. Ignatius Parish in Sacramento, embracing her Catholic faith and passing it along to her children.
Meg enjoyed various hobbies. She was always active in social sports and activities, including tennis, skiing, golf, hiking and playing bridge. In 1989, she moved to North Tahoe, where she became an avid patron of the arts and served as Treasurer of the North Tahoe Arts Center.
In 1999, Meg started anew in Point Richmond and, in 2001, married John Mullany, who was the love of her life. There they especially enjoyed sailing, gardening and many years of grand parenting together.
Her most cherished role in life was being a devoted mother. Meg took great pride in spending time with her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as "GG" (gorgeous grandma).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Veterans charities or Hospice, as Meg had a deep appreciation for their work.
Meg's vibrant spirit and dedication to her family, community, and country will be greatly missed. Her memory will be forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her and will be celebrated privately by her family in her most favorite place, Lake Tahoe.
