Gregg began working for the California Department of Forestry in 1961. Gregg was then hired by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department in 1964. As a Deputy, he worked a variety of assignments which included, Patrol, Helicopter Pilot, Detective, Court Bailiff, Prisoner transportation and assisted with creating the Honor Camp program. In this program, Gregg would train minimum security inmates, forest fire prevention skills. The inmates would utilize these skills and techniques, in the wooded areas of San Mateo County.
Gregg retired honorably from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department in 1997, with 33 years of service.
Gregg was an outdoor enthusiast, passionate about hunting, fishing, and adventure.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Pam; his four children, Ron, Bryan, Missy, and Doug; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; and his brother, Gordon.
Gregg will be deeply missed, but his spirit and love will forever remain in our hearts and memories. His legacy lives on in the thoughts, prayers, and stories we share.
