Alexia Nicole Martinez

Alexia was born on January 15th, 1979, in Benbrook Texas and she grew up in San Pedro California. She graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2007 and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Landscape Architecture. She worked as a Landscape Designer and Interior Decorator. She was also actively involved in Neighborhood Beautification Projects and Local Activism.

Alexia was a true light in this world and touched and inspired everyone that she met in her life. She was very kind and passionate about bringing happiness to those that she was close with in addition to strangers. She loved to make the world a better place and her body of work and love for plants remain a testament of her talent for those fortunate enough to have trusted Alexia with their Landscape design & Interior Decorating projects. Alexia loved her family, spending time with friends (and their babies), her cats, plants, gardening with neighbors, beach days, baking, traveling, horseback riding, rainy days, scary movies, ice cream, dancing, comedy shows, antiques, holidays, camping, her fast cars, art, music and The Britannia Arms. Some of her other favorite locations were San Luis Obispo, Aptos, Capitola, Hermosa Beach, Sherman, Texas & Whitesboro, Texas, New York City and San Pedro, California.

Alexia is survived by her soulmate & husband, Jared Martinez, her loving parents Kirk & Perilla Brewer and her beloved & cherished younger brother Connett Brewer.

Alexia fought her battle very hard, and her strength, resilience and positive attitude was the perfect example of inspiration. Alexia will be truly missed in this world and her light will remain bright and carry on within all of us.

The family would like to thank Sutter Health of Santa Cruz, Hospice of Santa Cruz, Women Care of the Central Coast, her loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins that traveled to visit her from Texas & Washington State, her God Family from Oakland, friends from Southern California, Jared’s Family, her Britannia Arms of Capitola Family, her Aptos & Capitola neighbors and lastly her Santa Cruz Friends for the care and compassion they showed Alexia in her final days.
