Lloyd Timothy Trokey

Lloyd Timothy Trokey, 86, of San Diego, CA and formerly Los Angeles, CA and Detroit, MI, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Lloyd, known as Tim by his family and friends, was born on February 26, 1937 in Detroit to Lloyd and Marianne Trokey. He graduated from Detroit De La Salle High School in 1954. He was a Private in the National Guard and received an honorable discharge in 1962. In 1962 he married Barbara Isola but was later divorced in 1985 He attended Wayne State University in Detroit, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business while starting both his career and raising a family. He later went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Detroit. His professional career was focused on corporate finance and he performed multiple different roles at various companies, such as American Natural Resources, MCA-Universal, and Northrop Corporation, during his career spanning over 40 years. Lloyd was an enthusiast of foreign languages, learning Russian, Latin, French, Polish, and became fluent in Spanish. He had a love for the movies and was an avid reader. He also had strong interests in computer technology, constantly dabbled with various electronics, and maintained older computers of all makes and sizes. He moved to California in 1985, first living in Los Angeles then moving to San Diego in 1992 where he had lived until his death. Lloyd is survived by a sister, Lynn (George) Miller of Granada Hills, CA, and a brother, Theodore of South Lyon, MI. He is survived by two children, Timothy (Jill) of Saline, MI, and Teressa (Ed) Dougherty of Ferndale, MI, and three grandchildren: Lindsay and Luke Trokey and Edward Dougherty. Per his wishes, cremation will take place and his remains will be scattered at sea.
