Susan Louise Booker
November 1, 1946 – September 27, 2020
Susan Booker, a life-long resident of Sacramento, CA, passed away unexpectedly on September 27, 2020 while in her home of 50 years. She was 73 years old.
Susan is survived by her two sisters, Mary and Linda; her sons, Kurt and Derek; her daughters-in-law, Sandy and Sadie, her grandchildren, Derek Jr. and Araya; and her great granddaughter, Olivia.
Susan was born in Sacramento on November 1, 1946 to George and Virgil Martin. Susan was a single mother who raised her two sons while working full time as a secretary at McClellan Air Force Base. There, she worked with high ranking military officials and assisted with overseeing several government projects where she received several accolades. Susan worked for McClellan for 22 years where she would later retire. Susan would then go on to work for the City of Sacramento as a personnel clerk for the Sacramento Police Dept, office of the chief, until retiring in May of 2013.
Susan was the matriarch of her family, and nothing was more important to her than supporting her sons and their families. She was a kind, loving, generous, and nurturing woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild meant everything to her. She adored her family more than words could express. She also very much enjoyed gardening. Susan loved to work on small projects in her yard. She loved being outdoors and enjoyed the simple reward of a beautiful project she had completed. She would often sit outside to watch the hummingbirds fly up to her porch for a drink of water. This brought her such joy in her last days. She was loved by so many and well known and respected within the community, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Due to Covid, there are no plans for a funeral or memorial service. A website, susanbooker.com, will be forthcoming where pictures and memories can be viewed and messages can be left.
