Jose Antonio Uroza Jr.

January 1, 1959December 30, 2020

On Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 3:30pm, Jose (TJ) Antonio Uroza Jr., loving husband to Robin Uroza and model father to three sons and a step-daughter, passed away at the age of 61, two days shy of his 62nd birthday.

TJ was born on January 1, 1959 in Puerto Rico, to Ofelina and Jose Uroza Sr. His parents moved to Chicago in March of 1960 when he was 1, and sister, Sandra was only 3 months old. He grew up in Chicago until his late teens then came to California.

TJ was a talented musician, who could play the guitar, trumpet, keyboards, or just play the "drums" using his fingers. He thoroughly enjoyed music with a passion, as well as taking long bike rides, building model planes, and watching either the Chicago Bears play football, or Dale Earnhardt race in Nascar. Even when Earnhardt unfortunately passed, TJ continued to be a fanatic and his collection of #3 merchandise proved so. TJ was a generous, loving, and very witty individual. It was nearly impossible to not notice, or feel his presence whenever he entered the room. He was a very socially skilled man, making him even more loveable, especially whenever his wit and humor came into play. He could make nearly anyone laugh if he really wanted to, and it was never at anyone’s expense. TJ had great respect and empathy for those around him since he had faced hardships in life, and that’s what made him the greatest role model he was. He always had the correct priorities in place and worked hard since he valued responsibility.

TJ was preceded in death by his father, Jose Sr. He is survived by his mother, Ofelina; his wife, Robin; his three sons, Nicholas, (son of Corrine Neidrich), Beau and David; his step-daughter, Elizabeth; his sister, Sandra; niece, Michelle and her son, Gavin; and oodles of grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on February 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at Grace Community Church, 4247 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92503.

Please no flowers. Instead, please donate to Traumatic Brain Injury Research Or Robin's Moving Fund. Moving Cross Country...

God Bless and Keep You in His care.

My father was one of the best role models I could've ever asked for. He loved each and every one of his kids and even acted as a surrogate father for some of his kids' friends who didn't have positive male role models in their lives. He had a heart made of gold and was amazing at being empathetic for others. He taught me to learn from others' mistakes as well as my own and I fully believe that's what's made me the man I am today. I couldn't have ever asked for a better father and I will always continue to look to him for guidance and try to be at least half the man he was. I love you daddy, always and forever. -Your Pi Pi

TJ was a patient and kind-hearted man who demonstrated his love for Jesus, his family, his community, and his church. He helped others in need and was happy to provide a listening ear. His smile was warm and infectious. He will be missed. Robin, we're so sorry for your loss and trials you've endured. We pray for your peace and travel mercies on your move. In Christ's love. I am quite shocked to hear of your passing!
Quite a few decades have passed since the summer of '74, hanging out at your house on Wabansia, listening to tunes on  your back porch with Sandy, and hanging at the park.
You were always upbeat, silly & friendly, your hair much longer than this photo of you, but still the same, great smile.
We lost touch after High School started and as life happens, we go our own ways.
To Jose's family, my thoughts & prayers are with his wife, sister, mother & his children.
May you be comforted in the days ahead by the many warm, love filled memories that you shared.
With loving memories,
Sharon Grochocki Pascente

I knew Jose in grammar school at Lewis school along with Sandra. One of our classmates found out that Jose had passed away. My condolences to his family including his wife and children and to Sandra. May he rest in peace and be the best guardian angel that the family could have. God bless

I met Jose in grammar school, we had been great friends and hung around a lot together. I remember starting a band with him, in his parents basement on Wabansia, and spent many a night cruising the streets of Chicago in his black Dodge Charger, which was his prize possession.

Miss you my friend!!

Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?
A: Because he was poultry in motion.
TJ always had a quick clean joke to tell. He was always smiling and laughing! You were a wonderful wife to TJ. God bless you on your next season of life Robin! Hope the laughter continues. Live, love, laugh🌹♥️ Prayers to you and yours🙏🏻.

Whenever I'd see him at Church, he'd always acknowledge me with that pretty smile of his and a Hi! And seeing you two together said LOVE. My love and prayers to you all. JoAnn Curtin
