Charlotte H. North
August 17, 1934 – December 23, 2020
Charlotte "Sam" North, born in Collbran, Colorado on 17 August 1934, left this world and moved on to the next 23 December 2020. She served in the military for many years and retired as a secretary for the Army Corps of Engineers in 2008.She is survived by her 3 children: J North, Kathryn Reno, and Dawn North; her 5 grandchildren: September, Tabitha, Sarah, Jamie and Katie; and her 5 great grandchildren: Andrea, Haley, Bannan, Jooniper, and Augustus. Stubborn as she was, Sam always made sure her family never wanted for anything. Be it money for pet food or groceries to help her newly married granddaughter just starting out, Sam was always there to lend whatever she could. When she wasn't watching cooking shows or true crime you could find her deeply concentrated on crafting whether it was embroidery or plastic canvas. She kept her hands busy simply for the sake of creating. While she lived a full and mostly happy 86 years, she was taken from this earth too soon. Our family took great care to protect her as much as we could, but in the end the pandemic caught us unaware, regardless of the meticulousness of our rule following. Please wear a mask. Please stay home. She would still be here if we all did our part with a little more care and understanding. Sam was never one for poetry, but these words by Joyce Grenfell seem fitting for her final wishes....
"If I should die before the rest of you, Break not a flower nor inscribe a stone. Nor, when I'm gone, speak in a Sunday voice, But be the usual selves that I have known. Weep if you must, Parting is hell. But life goes on, So sing as well."
