Elizabeth (Betty) Kregg was born in her grandmother's house on April 21, 1940 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She was the fourth of five children born to Alice Hartley and Keith McCammon. Betty loved travel and worked for Eastern Airlines and later for AAA as a travel agent. She moved from New Jersey to Florida and later to California. She visited much of the world in her life and often took her nieces and nephews on these adventures including to the San Juan Islands, the Albuquerque Balloon Festival, Vienna, Budapest, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Dublin, Hawaii and oh so many more places. Betty loved and was loved by her family which included nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews, and great, great-nieces and nephews. She loved birds and ducks, kitties, plants, nature, and people. She was also an avid reader and a writer. We looked forward to the poems she wrote every year from the Christmas elf. She chronicled the special events and celebrations of our family through poetry. She was eternally optimistic and walked always on the sunny side of the street. She looked for the best in others and was friendly, thoughtful, extremely generous, and kind. Betty had many friends too. She spent the later years of her life in Newark, CA so she could be near her family. Betty befriended her upstairs neighbor and loved spending time with their little boy. They painted together and did puzzles and collected leaves and fed stray cats. She was thrilled to be his adopted grandmother. Aunt Bet will be missed terribly by her family. She enhanced our lives greatly and we loved her dearly.
